Morgan & Sam’s destination wedding in Washington was a dream come true. As a photographer it is always a joy to travel to shoot weddings mainly because we get to photograph a wedding in a new place with different surroundings. This destination wedding was definitely not an easy travel. There were sea planes, ferries and car rentals that all needed to be considered in a big way. The ferry from Anacortes to Roche Harbor was on a fickle schedule of hit or miss and we definitely had to be on time to catch each leg of transport. In the end it was a fun story to share and definitely worth it to photograph such a gorgeous wedding. We think the photography and videography came out beautiful.
This gorgeous seaside harbor wedding was one filled with happiness and joy all around. From start to finish the couple came in with ear to ear smiles and gratitude. We started the day with gorgeous hues of blues and cream tones in the flat lays. Adding in florals and fun to the stationary set up was a great way to show off the gorgeous the water color rendition of Morgan and Sam’s venue. All the details were simply gorgeous thanks to the team of New Creations Wedding design and everywhere you looked was a picturesque opportunity to create beautiful imagery.
The couple shared their first look on the dock where the sea planes landed. It was a beautiful place overlooking the skyline of trees and serene natural surroundings. Soon after their first look, Morgan and Sam were greeted by their entire bridal party for group photos. We took the couple around the Roche Harbor grounds for couples photos followed by group family photos and Morgan and Sam eagerly awaited for the moment to say I do.
The wedding ceremony was held on the lawns below the hotel. Accompanied by both her parents the bride walked down the isle decorated with white hydrangeas and greens styled by Oak & Fig Florals.
The bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife and kissed half way down the isle in an old fashioned flashy dip as guests cheered with joy.
Reception and dinner were to follow in the main hall. As sunset approached the bride and groom invited guests to enjoy a short walk down to the waters edge where the traditional and daily “colors ceremony” was held. Just before sunset each night during the summer, they retire the flags of Roche Harbor, Washington state, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. The dock staff lower the flags while a song plays, and before the American flag comes down a cannon shot booms through the harbor. When guests returned to the reception hall they were greeted by a chocolate martini wall and enjoyed music played by the dj as the couple enjoyed their first dances.
