When California residents seek reprieve from the city and to have a wedding in glamour and grace, they head to the northern coastline, drawing energy from the scenic beaches, untouched nature and fresh air. Set amid this tranquility and an ocean as your backdrop is The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, a blufftop resort overlooking the ocean. To have a wedding at the Ritz is just about as good as it can get.

Shanmuganathan and Amina first met at a chess tournament. Both were avid chess players. They became friends over the years and started seeing each. It was quite a journey, a long one too! Their Courtship started out more as mutual friends but over time their friendship grew into love. The couple eventually got married last November at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay.

Their ceremony was outdoors cliffside over looking the ocean. Floral petals in blush and white lay on the grass where the bride was walked down the isle by her father to a decadent floral structure built in a circular formation. The bride met her groom under the floral arch where the two exchanged vows and rings and were pronounced husband and wife as the symphonic sounds of seagulls and songs played. The romance was all the more excentuated to have beautiful crashing sounds of the waves as their guests clapped and cheered and sent them back down the isle to their reception.

Amina, the Bride, had majored in design and architecture and she had planned her whole wedding herself. During the reception there were traditional elements that were incorporated from an Indian wedding but she was determined to keep the event unique and not to long. After they cut there beautiful cake, the newlyweds shared a first dance in the ballroom not compromising their beautiful view. Their guests enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and refreshments all afternoon as they celebrated the beautiful couple entering the new stage in their lives.

The inspiration Amina and Jammu’s wedding was driven by their desire to be married by the ocean.  Inspiration and a color palette was driven by the blues of the ocean, the golden sands and sunset, the white fog and the unique ground cover. They had gorgeous accents of navy and gold with white and green as their secondary colors. Since it was the end of fall season almost working its way into winter, wedding a little bling brought out the beauty and contrast in the dreamy atmosphere outdoors. Their wedding was a true extension of the couple’s personality. They wanted it to be minimalist, simple yet bold where it needed to be. To sum up, it was the beach, the sand, the sunset hues and everything nature with a mild touch of their Indian cultural roots that inspired the couple in creating their picture perfect fairytale cliffside wedding.
