Choosing your wedding photography and videography team is one of the first things you and your fiancé are likely to set out to do when it comes time to start planning your wedding.
We put together a list of the top 5 things we think you should consider when choosing who is going to capture your day.
#1 Do you like them?
Of all your vendors, your photo video team are going to spend the most time with you on your wedding day, usually more time than even your planner. It is important to feel comfortable and taken care of on your day. You want to find a photographer and videographer that you not only like their work but also like them as people. The more relaxed and comfortable you are, the more you will enjoy your wedding day.
#2 Will you get to meet them before the wedding?
Before you book your photographer & videographer check to see if they offer an engagement session, walk throughs or any in person meetings. This will give you a chance to get to know your photo video team and also having an engagement session gives you a practice run of how it will be on the day of your wedding.
#3 Does their Style resonate with you?
Finding the right style is important. Is your style timeless, soft and graceful or moody, bold and bright, or somewhere in between? Spend some time getting to know what appeals to you. Pinterest is a great resource when it comes to wedding photography. Remember these are the images and footage that will last forever.
#4 Is it the right Price point?
Wedding photography and videography rates range from quite cheap to very expensive. We like to think of the images and video as an investment that will last forever. After the cake has been cut and the last dance has been danced all that will remain are your memories and what your photo video team has captured. Only you can decide what that is worth to you. Did you know that, on average, most couples spend only 10 percent of their wedding budget on photography alone? Because we offer both photo and video we have packages that include both bundled into one.
#5 What cameras are they using?
These days we can all take pictures with our phones, and sometimes with very impressive results. Some people will say that the artist behind the camera matters more than the camera itself. While it’s true that a good photographer can capture stellar images with any camera and also that having an expensive camera does not make you a good photographer. At the end of the day, the best results are going to be a combination of both. You want a team that has studied their craft and has also invested in it. Low grade gear can produce subpar quality. Having professional gear in the right hands is going to get the best result.
